Designer Profile

Creating a beautiful and functional home environment is a personal journey, and Andrea Houck is honored when clients invite her into their homes to help guide that process. In Houck's interior design projects, the client's personality and style - whether traditional, modern or somewhere in between - come through.

Houck's eye for details and passion for design revealed themselves early in life. When she was four, Houck pointed out to her parents that her newly installed bedroom wallpaper was upside-down, a fact that the adults hadn't noticed. She brings that astute eye and aesthetic zeal to every A. Houck Designs project.

Houck has been "creating spaces you will love...traditional, modern or somewhere in between" in the Washington, DC area for more than 14 years. After earning a BFA in Art and Design from The University of Tennessee at Knoxville, she began her career in art direction and advertising. In 2000, Houck decided to return to her roots and pursue her early passion - interior design.

Consistently recognized as a leader in the DC design community, Houck was selected to create the glamorous bar and hallway for the 2013 DC Design House. Her work has appeared in numerous publications, including Home & Design Magazine, The Washington Post, Arlington Magazine, Northern Virginia Magazine and Washington Spaces. For three years, Houck has been selected as a participant in Home & Design Magazine's Portfolio of 100 Top Designers. She is an associate member of ASID and a professional member of IFDA.

Houck is passionate about giving back to the community and has participated in design-related projects for Habitat for Humanity in South Carolina, the Georgetown Jingle in DC, and the Tuckahoe Home & Garden Tour in Virginia.
